    Jimmy Lewis

    Fri, Feb 22nd – 7:30pm to 10:30pm

Front man of San Diego hometown favorites Superunloader, Jimmy Lewis’ formidable songwriting, versatile singing and brilliant guitar work is on a level all its own. “So suggestive, evocative and downright poetic… Lewis has schooled himself at the feet of the masters!” His mesmerizing musicianship is as memorable as your first kiss and has led him and his band to sharing the stage with the likes of such legends as Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana and Greg Allman, just to name a few. Strap yourself to your seat, ‘cause you’re about to be blown away!

This class will move along at an accelerated rate. Therefore, all tyers considering this class should have some familiarity with general tying skills (whip finishing/half hitching, pinch wrap, use of dubbing, etc.), and have their own vise and tools. If these terms seem like Greek to you, please register for the Novice class - you will have a much more enjoyable experience in that class, and you will have more personalized instruction. Now, back to the Intermediate/Advanced Class.

    • We will be tying 2 flies each night. I'm going to specify 5 of the 10 patterns, because I want to be sure we cover a specific range of materials, techniques, and fly styles. Patterns relevant to surf/bay/inshore species will be emphasized. For those of you who sign up for the classes, I will be sending an email to you, soliciting ideas for additional patterns. The preset flies will include:
    • Clouser Minnow
    • Chuck's 'Chovy
    • Surfin' Merkin
    • Bonefish Scampi
    • Borski's Bonefish Slider

    • Your cost for this course will be $25.00/person (payable in cash to Chuck on the first night of class). This cost is to cover the materials used in the class. Practice materials are not provided for this course. I'll send out the materials list and Outlook calendar invitations to those people who successfully register for the class. Note that I will be encouraging you to do "homework", as it will immediately improve your tying skills, but I won't kick you out of the class if you don't do any.

Connect with Chuck Waterman for additional information.

    Wood-Fired Pizzas & Salad ($12) provided by Cucina Caprese 4pm - 6:30pm

    Concert by 3rd Project, 5pm - 8pm

Third Project is a local group of San Diego musicians (many members  in the band are natives) who grew up listening to Second Wave (2-Tone) ska music of the late 70’s & early 80’s.  Many of the band members have known each other since Jr. High and High School, while others have a storied musical resume and background. Third Project was formed out of a mutual admiration for upbeat, high energy SKA music.
