This class will move along at an accelerated rate. Therefore, all tyers considering this class should have some familiarity with general tying skills (whip finishing/half hitching, pinch wrap, use of dubbing, etc.), and have their own vise and tools. If these terms seem like Greek to you, please register for the Novice class - you will have a much more enjoyable experience in that class, and you will have more personalized instruction. Now, back to the Intermediate/Advanced Class.

  • We will be tying 2 flies each night. I'm going to specify 5 of the 10 patterns, because I want to be sure we cover a specific range of materials, techniques, and fly styles. Patterns relevant to surf/bay/inshore species will be emphasized. For those of you who sign up for the classes, I will be sending an email to you, soliciting ideas for additional patterns. The preset flies will include:
  • Clouser Minnow
  • Chuck's 'Chovy
  • Surfin' Merkin
  • Bonefish Scampi
  • Borski's Bonefish Slider

  • Your cost for this course will be $25.00/person (payable in cash to Chuck on the first night of class). This cost is to cover the materials used in the class. Practice materials are not provided for this course. I'll send out the materials list and Outlook calendar invitations to those people who successfully register for the class. Note that I will be encouraging you to do "homework", as it will immediately improve your tying skills, but I won't kick you out of the class if you don't do any.
